Year In Rainbow

Work was productive today. Here is my desk and the red things I ingested.

I’m a tiny bit overwhelmed since I’ve been occupied every night this week, but it’s tons of fun having Karin in town and of course The New York Burlesque Festival is fun,fun,fun!

I went to the Pre-Party for The New York Burlesque Festival at Corio last night, it was a blast and I got to spend some time with some folks I only see once or twice a year at Exotic World.

Virginia and I did our make-up in the bathroom at Babeland before heading over to Corio

Then I took the Folks from Sweden and Australia to Cafe Noir for food and drinks!

Such a good long day, I helped Amber Ray decorate more flowers and then I went with Minnie Tonka to Garo Sparo’s Studio try on our new costumes for Kosher Chixxx next week(sneak peak at the Slipper Room on Saturday, yes electric orange spandex) then I took Karin to Makeup Forever, such a wonderful place! We went to eat at Japonica and they have this beautiful food!

We hopped in a cab and got in line at the Speigel tent to watch Absinthe(with my favorite Julie Atlas Muz) and La Vie(a wonderful show about purgatory!) We met with Sequinette, and who was there in line? Don Spiro and Kellita from the Hot Pink Feathers! Kellita is originally from my home town Mendocino California! She now lives in San Francisco and is here for the New York Burlesque Festival

So you are probably wondering what Trip, Trop, Trool means? It’s like small, medium, large and it was inspired by this picture.

Then a moth landed on my leg and stayed a while. What is the significance of this?

And of course Sequinette was looking foxy, but wouldn’t let me take her picture . . .I did anyway!

The month of red is almost coming to an end, so as my red nail polish chips off . . .so does the red . . .

Long day at work, started at 8:30am and went home at 7:30pm, we did cycle count. I think the kicker was that I was up till 2am doing laundry and cleaning the night before.

Scarlet Sinclair came over to the store on her lunch break and gave me a belated birthday present(a really cool rainbow dress and some rainbow bracelets, THANK YOU SCARLET!)

I anxiously awaited the arrival of Karin aka Virginia Valentine she came to the store with big smile on her face and a sweet and energetic way about her(even after having traveled for 12 hours to get here!) She’s the producer of the only burlesque show in Sweden called The Hootchy Kootchy Club, she’s in town for the New York Burlesque Festival, she got me really excited about it!

We dropped off her bags, went grocery shopping and made burritos(yum!) Here is a still life montage(IE my camera doesn’t do to well with out a flash!)

And of course me! I’m trying to cover my face, because at this point in the day my make-up has smeared!

I went to work today and had another regular day, but when I got off I was in preparation for Karin coming, she’s a burlesque performer from Stockholm and she’s going to be staying with me Tuesday through Saturday. My room was a mess and so was the house, so I cleaned and did laundry.

It was a full moon and on the way home I took a picture, not very good but a picture none the less.

This is me in red again, in my living room!

These are my red clothes drying and some laundry I did, since I’m done with the red month in a week this will probably be the last time in a year that I will have so much red clothes to clean!

Today was great, I made delicious French toast with rosemary bread and strawberries which you know are red!

Then I went to my friend Allison’s Bridal shower, it was at this Zen/Vegan tea parlor. Allison was wearing red, there was tons of fun to be had!

I took a picture of myself in the bathroom at Francia’s that is where the tea party was!

Then I went to Amber Ray’s to help her make these flowers!

Then Her and her hubby MuffinHead went to a Tango dance!

Then I saw Amber and Muffin Dancing across the platform, it was sweet!

I had a nice morning, Minnie Tonka my fellow Schlep Sister came over to rehears for our new act we’re doing for Kosher Chixxx.

Then I hung around the house and pretended to clean my room. Then I rehearsed a combination to teach at The School of Burlesque for Jo Boobs. I then went to teach, it was a really nice group and when I was teaching a burlesque stance one of the ladies who was pregnant held the bottom of her belly instead of putting her hands on her hips, it was just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!!

I then rushed home, threw my costume in a bag, slung it on my bike and rode to park slope for the Burlesque Alliance Bikini Blowout at Burlesque Beach. It was a sweet crowd, I did my sunburn act, it’s still a work in progress since I only have done it four times and one of those times was 3 years ago! It’s just a bummer to paint myself with red paint you know?

These are my favorite, Creamy Stevens has a hot tush, she is nominated for a Golden Pastie for the best bootie shaker and we can see why!! Also notice the red Nylons!!

Of course here’s the official pink photo of the day, gorgeous Precious Little, according to Nasty Canasta, Flamingos are pink because they eat so much shrimp!

And of course there are the red heels with black fishnets! Hot Legs Malone gives us something to look up to!! She did the scariest/funniest act I’ve seen in a long time!!

Then there was Kit Cat and Veronika Sweet, red, red lots of red!

In the end Bastard Keith came by to congratulate us for a job well done, and Delirium Tremens stuck out her tongue!

Tired from sewing all night, feeling so mellow, and almost like I’m coming down with a cold. I worked till 7:30 then I went to whole foods to eat some dinner and do a little grocery shopping. I talked to my friend Sam and she seems to be doing really well. I rode home, it’s so nice to ride my bike home at night so cool, so relaxing.

I got home and visited Ebay I found some great rainbow and orange clothes for next month and for October. Since Allison and Noa’s wedding is in October I’m looking for something Fun, Formal and Fabulous, I bid on two dresses . . .we’ll see how they look?
This one looks more red than orange, but we’ll see when it gets here!

Things are pretty mellow today, last night was a long nite working on my new rainbow dress.

SoI went with my friend Allison to see her in her second to last dress alteration. She went to Garo Sparo for her wedding dress. He does AMAZING work. They were both wearing red pants!

Then Allison and I went for Pizza at Roses on First and eleventh. She was wearing red so I took her picture.

I was super tired so I rode my bike home and took a picture of my bike parking garage, everyone in my house rides bikes, it’s great! It’s such great exercise and it’s also really fun!

I had the day off, it’s been a while since that has happened. I blogged the morning away(11am-1:30pm) and then I went to the Boob Doctor. I’ve had a weird fluid in my breast for about a year and I went to get it checked out, this was my follow up after my mammogram and ultrasound in May. Turns out I have cysts in my breasts, it’s completely “normal” supposedly, and I have to get them checked out every six months(joy.)

“Why” asks the Public, “are you sharing this private health information?”

Well “Public” sometimes I show you my naked body, but now I’m showing you my exposed self. This is in hopes that you will also take care of any health issues that arise. Get some medicade if you are low income, do your breast exams, just pay attention to your body and take care of it!

After the doctor, I biked up to the fabric district to get some tulle for the bottom of my new rainbow “fishtail” dress that I’m creating for a new rainbow act and that I’m wearing to the Golden Pasties(insert clever vote for me and my friends slogan)
I finished the dress part, it’s got a breakaway zipper and is spandexy tight! I didn’t get the zipper even in the back, but it looks great in the front!I haven’t added the tulle yet, I was thinking too much and couldn’t figure it out how to make the full rainbow of tulle visible and then I had to leave for Julie’s house go hang out with Satan’s Angel one last time before she leaves NYC, she’s at Riffifi on Thursday August 23, but I’m going to see Tigger’s boylesque show at Coney Island called cleverly “Man-a-Tease!” Here’s the pile I left in my room, pretty colorful! You can kind of see the beginnings of the dress!

I rode my bike to Julie and Leo’s for some nice hanging out and eating and drinking and talking. It was really nice to just be chill for a night, no shows, no make-up, just talking and inspiring each other. Amber Ray made me some rainbow fans, I worked on some costumes for her for the Marc Jacobs party and she traded me for the fans, they are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!

Here I am dorking out, yeah it’s going to take me some time to figure out how to dance with fans! The colors look great against Julie’s red wall.

Good day today, work was mellow because it rained the whole day. It feels like a San Francisco Summer! Cold and Damp! Supposedly they are having great weather out there, go figure, the minute I move the weather patterns change! I really wanted to go to the beach but it looks like I’ll just have to do the beach thing on stage at the Bikini Blowout at Burlesque Beach! Seems I’m constantly doing things I never do in real life on stage . . .well yeah . . .that’s another story for another day . . .give me a few years to figure that out!

Anyway from work I went to rehearse for Kosher Chixxx with my dance partner Minnie Tonka for our duet called The Schlep Sisters We are working on a new number called Party in My Pants it’s full of ridiculous dance moves and orange spandex.

Then I took Minnie Tonka to Lotus for THE FLESH BURLESQUE at THE FACTORY at LOTUS It’s a great show/ party where the gays and the Burlesque scene go hand in hand . . .such fun! Well the main reason I went was because one of my favorite legendary Burlesque Performers Satan’s Angel do her FIRE TASSELS yes folks she twirls her pasties and on the ends of the tassels is FIRE! It’s amazing! Not only that she just really has this amazing stage presence, very energetic, and very inspiring. If you want to see her live she’ll be at Starshine Burlesque on Thursday the 23rd of August! She’s going to be on the Maury Povich show that’s why she was in town.
