RAINBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 51 “Rainbow working”

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

September 20, 2007

I worked from 11:30am-11:30pm today, yes long day and tomorrow’s gonna be an even longer day, work and two shows. I’m actually excited, because there are some new opportunities at my job that I’m gonna apply for. I also really enjoyed working yesterday, I do a shift once a week that is devoted to receiving goods, it’s nice because you get to make things happen, it goes from the box to the sales floor and you do it all!

After my shift I packed a suitcase full of goods and took a cab to Brooklyn(my first flowery cab, apparently they painted them in Union Square last month!? It’s part of Garden in Transit, I’m super happy when anything is colorful!) and did a Sex Toys 101 workshop and toy Tupperware-ish party. The ladies were really nice and I knew one of them from the community.

I am also really excited about going to the University of London for the conference called Feminist Neo-Burlesque I’m going to speak about feminism and burlesque. It’s a really exciting opportunity! I’m looking for gigs while I’m out there, so if any of you know London and performance opportunities drop me a line!

So this morning I took some pictures of these cool bottles, before I recycled them!

And by the time I got home all I could produce was a couple of blurry pictures!

September 19, 2007

Pretty mellow day off, did some prep for my trip to London, yes I’m going, I’ll be there the last weekend in October, that is soon! Rehearsed for my new act on Friday and Saturday and I told you last week that I found my bear for the act I’m doing this week. He’s my buddy Raven . .. and we did had a little rehearsal. I made some dinner, because the poor fellow lives in the Bronx and I in Bedstuy/Bushwick border that is far. . .

RAINBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 49 “Rainbow on the Train”

September 18, 2007

Got some good sleep last night, ahhh, just what I needed. I’m listening to my friend Patricia’s radio show right now, from Cal State Monterey bay, she does the show every Tuesday 6pm-8pm Pacific Time. She’s also got a show coming up this weekend in the Bay Area (Go Jen, go!) it’s called Lyrical Revolt more info on her myspace page What a nice thing to see someone on the internet live! Ahh modern technology.

Speaking of technology, on the Subway I saw this lovely gal named Hillary knitting a rainbow scarf and wearing a rainbow inspired shirt. She was so sweet to let me take her picture, and she said that knitting the rainbow colors made her happier. It’s so true, the bright colors evoke smiles everywhere! Here she is . . .

I came home to blog and sleep . . .here I am

RAIBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 48 “Rainbow Returns”

September 17, 2007

I came home today, I do miss the ocean already. It was just so nice and relaxing being in the water, eating good food and not having any schedule whatsoever!

My knee was hurting yesterday(me and the Ocean had it out.) I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to make it to art model this morning, plus I really wanted to stay by the beach(who wouldn’t?) I set my alarm for 6am this morning, just so I could be prepared either way. I was up and ready to go, it was the first morning that my toe didn’t hurt and my knee was sore, but just bruised. Plus I was AWAKE! It’s so easy to wake up in nature . . .my eyes seem to take more in, there is so much to see yet it’s so simple. The colors that you see in nature are so much more intense than an urban landscape. My friend Gabrielle was describing this in regards to her trip to Ireland, she said, “it was SO green.” I didn’t really understand, having lived in nature for so long I took it for granted and having been in New York for 4 years(it will be four years on October 1st) I’m just so used to the City that nature is a new thing for me . . .ah. . .it was wonderful.

So Ashley and I stumbled out of bed, made coffee for the crew, threw in a load of laundry and got on the ferry.

Ashley and I waiting for the Ferry

She’s such a better photographer . . .it was a great moment even if the photo I took is dark . . .

The blue seats on the ferry, the blue sky, the blue breeze, ah we were touched by blue!

Then I got off the train, and found a little nature right here in Bedstuy!
These are purple morning glories!

I went home, blogged a bit, ate some yogurt. Jumped on the bus and went to art model. I modeled for Lyn Foster at Pratt Brooklyn. She’s a great teacher! I learn a lot just posing for her, the way she communicates about lines and how to visualize the body/ an image is really inspiring.

I was done at 3:30pm and at that point I was ready for a nap, but I wanted to choreograph some new moves before my rehearsal at 8pm. I did and then I blogged some more . . .yes I’m a blog artist . . .how mysterious!

I went to Collective Unconscious and had a rehearsal for my new act for P.I.N.C.H. Squad the new Pinchbottom show, dedicated to the 70’s Cop show!

It’s gonna be a blast, I’m gonna keep the number a surprise so you’ll just have to come to the show . . ..mwah, ha, ha!!!

RAINBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 47 “Darlinda the Rainbow Butterfly Tamer”

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

September 16, 2007 or the Day of the Rainbow Butterfly Tamer

So my personal discovery of the day yesterday was my new tag line.
Darlinda Just Darlinda “Butterfly Tamer!” I don’t train them, I just tame them into connection!! All I can say is that there were thousands of monarch butterflies on the beach yesterday and I danced with them in the waves! I didn’t get a picture from this weekend but this was taken in October last year! Me and Glenn and this beutiful butterfly named Fabulous Fancy Divine (Glenn’s favorite name for a child, still?)

Yes in the City it was International Pickle Day, but we called it Tammany Hall Debauchery Day, this is meaningful to me, because I’m reading a book called “Low Life” that is dedicated to the era when Tammany Hall was poppin.

Tammany Hall Debauchery Day started with another delicious(different flavor) frittata made by Danielle and bacon and donuts and cinnamon rolls . I had coffee, I wasn’t suppose to(gives me intense cramps) but it was TASTY and made me delightfully hyper!

Simcha, Danielle and Mateas went swimming with me, or rather I went swimming and they dipped in their feet. We came back to lay around. Allison, Susannah and Annemarie went for a bike ride.

Then more colorful folks arrived at Tammany Hall. Bambi, Bunny, Pinkie, and Jenny . . .minutes before they arrived I said out loud, “I’ll have a cocktail when the other ladies arrive.”

Well they had arrived, and prepared some delicious food for dinner(an awesome Pork Roast, go Bunny!!) Then we hit the beach, and all in the name of leisure. Yes Clams inspired us and we decided (or at least me) that we were the Ladies of Leisure of Tammany Hall!

So we took the umbrella’s out to the beach, lay down the beach blanket and had ourselves a day at the beach. Then of course we got hungry, but let me tell you our rental was just steps away from the beach and where we had parked so, it was a hop-skip-and-a-jump to the kitchen where (as inspired by Danielle) I created a cheese and fruit plate! And as I mentioned before the booze followed the food!

This is the crown jewel of the weekend, except a couple more that will stay off this blog. . . .Back to “The Rainbow shot”, yes everyone is wearing rainbow. Bambi in her beautiful bikini, Susannah wearing the chair, Bunny wearing my . .. ahem . . rainbow diaper(who called it that?), Clams in my rainbow tank top, and me in my rainbow bottomless smock!
Rainbow September Day 47 (12)
Well, the Bachelorette joined us and we went on an expedition t. . .where we saw a giant light house . . .HUGE! It was so big it hit Red Hook!

Then we went back to the house for a mellow evening taking cat naps and eating. Here’s Allison with the Baby Mateas.
I don’t know if you can see it, but there was lovely light coming in through the window.
Rainbow September Day 47 (18)

Then we ate, a lot
Here’s proof in the Otter Pops
Rainbow September Day 47 (20)
Here’s a list of what we ate for the weekend(what I can remember). Ah, delicious, delightful, de-lovely!
Apples,Grapes, Pork,Chicken,Bacon,Pita,Crackers, Cheese(lots of it),Donuts, Hamburgers, Hot dogs,Salome,Frittata,Otter Pops,Corn(yum!), Cinnamon rolls, Garlic,Potatoes(covered in pork love and lemon!),See’s chocolate and Organic licorice and more . .much more!

Oh, and my toe feels much better, it actually felt better to walk in the sand, who knew? One last thing I did before I went to bed was choreograph a little dance of the butterflies . . .

This is the post I left for the day . . .so true

RAIBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 46 “Rainbow days in Kismet #1″

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

September 15, 2007

Rainbow September Day 46 (2)
What a fun weekend! We went out to Kismet for Allison’s Bachelorette weekend(aka an excuse to Vacation, yes with a capital “V”)It all started around 6am on Saturday morning the 15th of September! I woke up hopped on the train, with a bag full of frittata making ingredients! Met with Allison’s childhood buddy Annemarie in Long Island and we drove through the Jones Beach Area to the Ferry(with these amazingly psychedelic long bridges and an eerie fog, I thought we were lost but we weren’t), we jumped on the ferry it was sprinkling at that point, but I told Annemarie I brought my bikini and my umbrella so it can’t rain! We walked up to random houses looking for the house named Tammany Hall(though we didn’t know it at the time because there were no signs and all we had was an address(the houses aren’t numbered?)

We woke up Allison, A.V., Danielle, Mateas, Susannah and Chaya. Then we made them a beautiful Frittata (thanks to Gabrielle for the delicious recipe)

Then I immediately started sun bathing and waited for Layna, Clams, Simcha, and Ashley.

Susannah, Allison, Chaya, and A.V. went biking on a “Three Hour Tour” I’ll let them tell you that story. Needless to say they left the house at 1:30pm and didn’t make it home till 7:30pm, yes we were worried, and no they didn’t bring cell phones!

We didn’t do much but sit around and eat, got to the beach and play with the baby.

RAINBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 45 “They Call me Mellow Rainbow”

Friday, September 14th, 2007

September 14, 2007

So I certainly feel more relaxed with a muted rainbow. Such a different feeling than my regular bright rainbow. Also people’s reactions are different. I also wore a rainbow shirt and a indigo skirt with subtle rainbow stripes, so it’s not as intense as a full rainbow get up.

I finalized some stuff for The Orangeacle Oracle and sent out the press release that felt good! I’m excited for that to happen!

Work was fun, Abby got us Sausages from the Saint Festival happening in Little Italy.

Chris loved hers!

My toe still hurts and I looked up bruised toes on line and they said that I had to get it drained! I freaked out and called my step mom, she’s a nurse and assured me that if it was so painful that I couldn’t walk or sleep that I’d be fine! And it’s perfect timing because I’m going away for the weekend . . .which means my friends I’ll be away from a computer, but worry not I’ll have not one but two blogs waiting for you on Monday!

Toe,toe,toe!

RAIBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 44 “Rain-Toe”

Friday, September 14th, 2007

September 13, 2007

So far once a month in this year in rainbow I’ve injured a toe, lets hope it’s a summer thing since I’ve been wearing open toed shoes! Because there are 12 months and I only have 10 toes!

Good day today, I finalized the date with Eric for the Orange show, which is actually going to be an Oracle on October 13 called THE ORANGEACLE ORACLE! I’m just super excited about it! It’s something new and it will be in a delightful little garden called Le Petite Versailles! Imagine if you will, yards and yards of orange tulle as the vapors of the Oracle at Le Petite Versailles!

I worked and the drawer that houses the key board on my desk fell on my toe, thus blackening the nail . .. do you think it will fall off??
Rainbow September Day 43 004

Then I started on some choreography with my new fans from Amber Ray! This wins the most hilarious self portrait award, man I sure do know how to take em!

RAINBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 43 “Just another day in Rainbow”

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

September 12, 2007

Today was a day off for me from Babeland, but I worked at SVA as an art model stand in for an hour. It’s a really wonderful place to work, Angela and Jim work in the Model Registry office and they are just the nicest folks. I showed them my blog and they were excited(maybe you two are reading it, right now?)

It was such a beautiful day that I walked to the 3rd Ave and 23rd and visited World Famous *BOB* at work. Her boss was there an is a TOTAL doll, he helped me find a cool rainbow shirt, and even took me to the back to see if there was any rainbow to be found.

I found out that a dream I’ve had about traveling may happen sooner than I expected! Good thing I got my passport last week!!

I came home and my roommate taught me how to change my flat tire!! Hurray! I feel pretty empowered!

So you know how a day technically starts at midnight, so here I am around 1am on September 12, 2007 (yes I forgot to take a picture!) It counts and it’s kinda funny!

Another ridiculous photo collage of me . . .

RAINBOW SEPTEMBER: DAY 42 “The Ghost of Rainbow Past”

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

September 11, 2007

So I wasn’t living here in New York for 9/11/01 but one can’t help but be affected by it. 9/11 made me feel like peace will never happen, why war is just dropping it’s shit all over the place, literally why can’t we get along? I was working at a fancy Golf Resort in Pebble Beach, CA and I got laid off because the business men that usually came to play golf were not coming to the resort.

Today turned out to be a very meaningful day. I had an important conversation with a friend I love dearly and I was asked to be in a reprise of the Dazzle Dancers fashion show at Rapture. I love what they do and was honored to be asked to participate again what I didn’t realize was that this wasn’t any fashion show. This was a fashion show of peace. I arrived to Machine Dazzle putting this alter outside the front door of Rapture
Rainbow September Day 42 044 The Gst of Rainbow Past (4)
and I knew that it was going to be a meaningful night!
Then Viva got us together in the basement of Rapture and told us that we were casting a spell of PEACE in this fashion show. We were to walk down the runway and place a candle in front of the alter and manifest peace as we vogue! Then at the end there was an Israeli and Lebanese who made out and we joined in!

I asked Machine if he could put me in something rainbow, and he did! I call this “The Ghost of Rainbow Past” mainly because I have such dark eyes. Also because of the pastel colors. This outfit was from when the Dazzles did a “Hair” tribute. I told myself I’d never wear tie-dye but guess what I did and I LOVED IT!!

I’ve forgotten some people’s names, will you tell me if you know who people are? Thanks!
