RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 236 “Rainbow Clown Again”

Friday, March 21st, 2008

March 21, 2008

I just realized that 100 days from yesterday the Year in Rainbow will be over, how sad! But life does go on after a year long art project. I’ve been thinking about what to do, maybe a Year in Dance, this one keeps coming up, where I have to dance for 2-5 minutes every day, and at the end of the week, I’ll post the video’s on my blog. Anyway this is a thought, and I’m liking it more and more every day, I love to dance and I wish that I could do it everyday, so this might actually give me an excuse!

Anyway, today was mellow, I had plans that were canceled so I just took the train home(it was so windy that it took me 15 minutes longer to ride my bike to work!) I also had plans to go to the spring circle at Paige’s house, but I was pooped when I got home and thought about my intentions for spring instead, to keep creating, to travel at least once a month, to let go of some stuff in my room(I’m a chronic pack rat.) I even prepared a candle to bring to the circle, and some how created a glitter spill first thing in the morning!

Oh, I almost forgot today’s outfit made quite the commotion! From the lady on Throop avenue saying,”look at that clown.” to the numerous amounts of customers who said,”I like your dress!”

RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 235 “Rainbow Closet”

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

March 20, 2008

I worked today, and afterwards I got some unhealthy fast food(Popeyes baby!) Watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s, what a fantastic movie. I’m not sure if it was the sugar in the lemonade I drank or the full moon on the first day of spring, but after the movie around 10pm I decided to clean my room!! I discovered I have almost 40 pairs of shoes, crazy huh, how many pairs do you have?

Here I am in front of my closet, I do love the timer on my camera!

RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 234 “Rainbow Shelly”

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

March 19, 2008

I worked today, and Shelly met me after work to talk about our new Show Blue, Bluer Bluest!! It’s going to be April 27th at 8pm at Union Pool in Williamsburg. It’s very exciting! It’s all blue, all singing as Blue is the throat Chakra. Shelly is a classically trained opera singer and amazing person extraordinaire. So you see why she’s a perfect co producer/performer!!

Anyway we went to this normally delightful restaurant called Kitchen Commune on Broadway in Soho, near Canal street. Except today things were strange. The guy at the counter guessed within a couple hundred miles where in California we were from(Shelly LA, me San Francisco) that was fine. Then the bathrooms weren’t so pleasant, we started joking about exterminators and rats. The music was some kind of intense trance music perfect for a rave or some thing, not so perfect for a meeting at lovely crepe/salad/sandwich cafe. Then the exterminator ACTUALLY started SPRAYING while we were in the cafe!!

We got a ton done, but all under this funny roof.

I came home and shot this picture, eh, not so exciting, still have a cold so it’s what I really look like!

RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 233 “Rainbow Pants Pantry”

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

March 18, 2008

Yuck, woke up with a cold, just to go to the doctor(breast) I have benign cysts 5 millimeters long, I can’t even feel them. After schleping myself to St. Vincents Cancer Center I went home and actually FINISHED my taxes!

Then I rode my bike to Ridgewood Queens(only two miles from home) to go to the podiatrist for him to put a bandage on my foot and tell me to come back in a week, ugh, I can’t get the stitches removed until next week. I did pass by a store called “Pants Pantry” lovely name, eh?

So I came home, worked on my blog. Then went to Union Square to have a meeting with Allison, yes we’re going on a California/Seattle tour at the end of July! She definitely cheered me up with her smiles!

I came home and inspired by our conversation worked on my blog some more!

RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 232 “Rainbow just rainbow”

Monday, March 17th, 2008

March 17, 2008

I art modeled, bright and early today. I just love art modeling, because it’s like going to school, but not having to do any of the actual home work. The professor talked about getting his first Time cover and how it was all because his neighbor was a buddy of Time’s art director, it’s all about who you know.

I left my keys at home and stupidly locked my bike up to the building, I had to walk over the gym across the street to get them to cut my lock for me! I wanted to show them the pictures from yesterday to prove it was my bike, but they believed me. Maybe it was my goofy helmet? Maybe it was my rainbow jump suit? Who knows, but they did it for me.

I came home and did more tax stuff, mainly getting all my deductions together, this is best done monthly I think, NOT yearly, that’s a TON of work! Then I went to work for four hours. I came home exhausted and forgot to take a picture, but I do have these lovely shots that were taken on Saturday night of my new “She’s a Rainbow” act. RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 231 “Rain-no-bow”

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

March 16, 2008

So I rode to brunch with Caitlin a lovely lady who is getting her masters in Bio Art at MIT! Wow! I also grew up with her in tiny Mendocino! It was inspiring and fantastic to catch up. I rode home and it RAINED big time, but as the title of this post says “no bow.” We need some f-n rainbows in this city, besides me and all my colorful friends! jeesh!

I came home and started working on my taxes, actually empowering to do that on my own, yeah. Then I went to rehearse with the crackers, rolled up on my bike and Saturn took my picture and then we got crazy with the camera!

RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 230 “Raindances with bandage”

March 15, 2008

Worked today and came home for a brief moment on my bike to pack my bags for my shows.

I packed my bags and did most of my make up on the train(yes I was running late.) This photo is mainly for Jo Boobs and her love of burly-q travel shots
DSCF3173

I went and performed at the Zipper for the Trapeze Loft’s Spring Show with the Animal Crackers, it was nice to have such a big stage, and Tanya Gange was wearing rainbow!

Here’s the Crackers being Andy Warhol, there’s more pics here

And here’s a rainbow tidbit of fringe and the stage, some accident,eh?

Then I hobbled off to BadAss(yeah, the doctor was right, it was too much dancing on my foot, no good) and did my “So Excited” act, and then I went home to sleep.

RAINBOW MARCH:DAY 229 “Rainbio”

Friday, March 14th, 2008

March 14, 2008

I went to work today, my foot is ok if I wear my birks, just no rubbing shoes and no high heels(poo!)

After work I went to the New Museum for a lecture from Rhizome on Media Art in the Age of Transgenics, Cloning & Genomics. My childhood friend Caitlin Berrigan was one of the panelist and she invited me, it was so inspiring to see this other kind of art, that in a way is similar to what I’m doing “life as art.”
Caitlin created huge geodesic domes, chocolates, sweaters in the shape and structure of viruses,
This photo is of the inside of one of the Hep C domes

Brandon Ballengée is studying mutated polliwogs and making beautiful art with the left over carcases,

Adam Zeretsky is doing some major performance art in the form of a video that creates a farm for biotechnology, fetishism, and other thing I can’t remember, any way he’s inspiring nuts and fun, and threw poppy seeds at the audience to demonstrate biophobia, Kathy High has done many projects including documentaries about human egg donation, giving lab rats a free HUGE home, and more! These people were so inspiring and really gave me a new understanding of “life as art”,”science as art”, etcetera!

This is the second day I’ve rode my bike, and it feels GREAT! To relieve pressure on my foot, I’m all smiles when I get home!

RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 228 “Rainboobs”

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

March 13, 2008

So I had to curtail the healing of my foot to go to the doctor, I had to reschedule the ultrasound from January so it was great to finally get it, next week I find out if the cysts in my breast have grown or if they are still benign.

I had to ride my bike because it puts the least amount of pressure on my foot(walking to and from the train in shoes HURTS!) On my way to the St Vincents Cancer Center, I saw this huge rat!

It’s amazing how something gray could still make such an impact!

While I was waiting in my ever so sexy green robe

I read some of this months Vogue, and I read all about one of my favorite celebrities Drew Barrymore, she’s was raised a hippie just like me, I feel some sort of connection to her(also people say I look like her!) I also loved all the color for the spring lines, yum! I love color!

Oh, yeah and here’s a shot of my foot with 7 stitches!, this is not for the faint of heart!

RAINBOW MARCH: DAY 227 “Rainbow Healing”

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

March 12, 2008

So today I was home all day recovering from my foot injury, uhg, yeah, and feeling sorry for myself. I had to cancel my Thursday gig. You see, I’m a dancer, I dance in all my acts and the doctor said I couldn’t dance for 2 weeks, and you know what I say to that? “Yeah right!” I’m going to dance, dance, dance and my foot will be fine!

Ok, that rant is over, so how about some colorful imagery? My cousin is pregnant, and she came to visit me for dinner. We ate Chard or should I say “Trader Joseph and the Chard of Many Colors” yeah that’s what it’s called. My cousin told me about pregnancy art and how she is really in to finger painting but give her a pen and paper and she’s not so happy. I wonder what colors women associate with pregnancy? I looked up color and pregnancy and I found this web site

My other cousin sent me to this web site of a cool rainbow book!

Since I didn’t leave the house I didn’t wear rainbow except on my foot, because it’s one of those socks with rubber on the bottom to walk around in.

I cuddled with this funny rainbow animal that Little Brooklyn gave me! I feel like I am also doing the halfway side smile like it is!
