Year In Rainbow

I got a TON of work done today, I wrote the press release for the Year in Rainbow Finale August 23rd(Save the date for the best of the Year in Rainbow shows!), ordered fliers for the show in Mendocino and figured out the Animal Crackers summer schedule!

I called Ted D’Ottavio and we did some promo shots for the finale show, I love how they came out!

Then I toted to the art space formerly known as Galapagos for Dr Lukki’s student showcase where I helped judge with Clams Casino, Nasty Canasta and Cherry Cheescake, what fun! I wore my purple leotard, oh I love that!

I had a lovely morning, well, afternoon brunching with Coco Laraue who lives in my neighborhood, I do love having cool neighbors! Then I went to rehearse at a new space with the Animal Crackers, it’s a great space, big and wonderful! When the crackers got in there it was running around and screaming and jumping for joy and then a ton of dancing!!

After we rehearsed we were walking along and found these pink plastic bags that smelled like bubble gum, and then the artists came by with a video camera and we did our self titled act “The Animal Crackers” on the street what fun!! Miss Saturn took this picture! It’s amazing what a little color can do to spice up an evening! I wish we used these biodegradable bags more often, they smell delicious and they are good for the environment and they make you happy!! More info at www.anycoloryoulike.biz

We had a quick dinner at Kates joint and I zoomed over to Sweet and Nasty to do my Zombie at as part of the AV club night, how fun! Creamy Stevens did this great act for the love of meat, Nasty Canasta did her Apocalypse Now! tribute, and Hard Corey did a tribute to Andy Kaufman’s mighty mouse video.

Fun, wearing purple is fun! People looked at me funny today wearing that jumpsuit . . .why I wonder?

Ah, the purple(well violet and indigo) chakra is in the head area and represent the third eye and spirituality. The mermaid parade is a spiritual journey for me, just a wonderful chance to be creative, be near nature(sort of the ocean) and celebrate summer, my favorite season!! And honey let me tell you there was soo much purple at this parade, here are some shots!!

This lady is the head of Juliard’s set shop, I forgot her name but she has the best floats and this year’s float she said she “phoned it in” well, hardly, I mean a lame’ purple couch, that’s only my DREAM couch!!!

Whitney Ward had the best costume, created by her and Garo Sparo it even had a back vagina! This costume was inspired from an ancient mermaid myth!



Jo Boobs, Pookie Patootie, Weirdie Girl, and Flor de Lys all dressed up as the New York School of Burlesque’s Star Fish!

As I walked to the Mermaid Ball where I performed at 10:30pm yes a long day, Sabrina Haley took my photo! Sums up a fabulous day!!

I worked today, then roamed around Soho until it was time for the Pincbottom show, a burlesque narrative about Nastiana Jones! I loved it!! I laughed my ass off!! What a brilliant show, especially when I didn’t get any of the Indiana Jones references, I’ve seen some of the movies but years ago, thats when you know comedy is good, when you don’t need to know the history, it just stands on it’s own! Then I rushed home with Weirdie Girl and Hard Cory, while Weirdie sewed her g-string for the Mermaid Parade on the train, loved it!!

I came home and sewed my mermaid parade costume, didn’t get to bed until 3am, and my machine broke . .. I love last minute sewing, such a risk!! You guessed it, my costume is purple!!

Today I worked and Art Modeled. I dressed up like a purple belly dancer, it was a blast to model with Legs Malone and Amber Ray. I love modeling at the society of illustrators, its so great to connect with artists and watch them use color and get excited about our costumes. Like co-appreciation!
Oh, I thought I was running terribly late, so I did the make-up on the train!!

I worked today and then came home to doll myself up for the Skulldugery and Skin show, I had a blast with Gal Friday , Albert Cadabra and Heather Holiday. Gal had on the best purple eyeshadow it really brought out the green in her eyes! I might venture to say that purple is my favorite color!

The most difficult part of this project has been this blog, wearing the colors is easy, but remembering to take a picture every day and finding time to blog, that is the hard part. Well that’s all and of course the picture that I took today was in form of a video of my new act “She’s like a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones!

This being the first in my long line of nights performing or going out, started out with a mellow day. I did laundry and finished tidying up my room. I do love doing one color of laundry so easy and so wonderful to look at the full laundry machine so colorful and fluid.

I met with Eric to talk about writing sketch comedy and meeting once a week to do improv with a mixture of burlesque and theater folk to workshop and create sketches.

After our meeting we ate some gelato in the park and I noticed I had forgotten my merkin, so I went to the usual places looking for a merkin, but no luck. Since my gig(Hotsy Totsy) was near both Tigger and Jo’s houses I called them both asking if they had an extra merkin, Tigger was at work and Jo did, but on the way to Jo’s storage I found something that worked. I just love my life that I can call up a buddy and ask for a merkin!

Today was the big day, The Purple People Invasion! What fun! It was an invasion with Pinkie Special, Shelly the Singing Siren, Aimee Animal and Sequinette! Eric Baby Bird and Clint Hild were behind the cameras!

Started with Eric, he shot me on the train, he was wearing blue and red since it makes purple!

Then Pinkie Special showed up!

Then we went a galavanting! If you want to know what happened you’ll have to come to see the Year in Rainbow Finale on August 23rd to see the video!

Woke up early and rode my gimpy bike to the Babeland Brooklyn store to help set up the booth for Brooklyn Gay Pride, it was so much fun!! People were really excited that Babeland has opened it’s doors in Brooklyn and they were excited to go to the party the next day! My only regret was that I wasn’t wearing rainbow! Well lavender is the color of gay rights too, and that’s what I was wearing!!

It’s ok because other creatures showed their pride! Here’s Victor’s dog Walter!

After work I took my bike to get fixed, though it’s not going to be done until Tuesday! I took the bus home just in time for the big rain storm, I hope the Babeland booth was ok?

I napped and then went to The Slipper Room, which was dead, but still fun as it was Bunny Love, Madam Rosebud, Melody Sweets, and Lady Lucerne. Did three acts to a unappreciative audience, and the last one was a break up song from my blue show, so it worked perfectly, yeah I blew smoke in their eyes!!
