RAINBOW JULY: DAY 350 “Rainbow Sloth, part: whatever”

July 12th, 2008

July 12, 2008

I over did it last night, I was super dehydrated and I didn’t sleep much(we had a 10am house cleaning and meeting.) So today I just did online dating stuff, blogs and avoided the pasty making. So much that I recovered a mannequin torso from my neighbors trash and decorated her! Maceo and Sharon kept me company and helped me. Maceo named the mannequin Sally, which is a great name!

I then went on to volunteer for Right Rides as a dispatcher, which is a little bit hard when the technology doesn’t quite work, but it was a really good day, we got 10 people home safe!

Then while I was waiting for all the drivers to get home safe I did this little photo shoot with Sally wearing my rainbow shirt from Glenn!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 349 “Hawaiian Rainbow”

July 11th, 2008

July 11, 2008

I worked today, lots going on and not a computer in site to do the work that I needed to do, well not true I used my bosses computer, but it seems when you need to do your work the most that’s when there is no tools to do them!

Well, after work I rode home(forgetting to pick up my sewing machine!) Got ready for the Happy Hour trio at the Slipper Room and headed to work. Taro and Ken were wearing red Hawaiian shirts as a “Red Hawaii” theme. They thought they could all the colors of Hawaiian shirts in conjunction with my year in rainbow, then moving on to Rainbow Hawaii and One person could be “R.O.Y Hawaii” and the other “B.I.V. Hawaii” I thought that was brilliant, and I love how people get involved on accident! My main go-go costume was a Hawaiin inspired rainbow bikini with a green “grass skirt” inspired tassel belt!

I had a lovely time performing with Madame Rosebud, Harvest Moon, Miss Tickle and the Happy Hour Clowns. Such funny fellows and not affraid to explore homo eroticism as a punchline, hot for a bunch of straight fellows!

Here’s me home, late, late, night!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 348 “this rainbow blog”

July 10th, 2008

July 10, 2008

Ok, I’m going to address it, I don’t like blogging, I have less than twenty days left in this project and I’m always behind on the blog. I think if I wanted a career as a blogger it would be one thing, but I’m a performer and there is really no immediate gratification with a blog, like applause. I wish there was some way that every time I sent out my blog posts, I would hear applause, live applause! Well until someone sets that up, I’ve got less than 20 days to finish this sucker up! Hallelujah! Well that’s what I did today after work; blogged, blogged, and more blogged!

I also rehearsed for my new “Yellow Beach Umbrella Act” Which is proving to be a bit more difficult than I had imagined! I’ve got some rehearsal space on Tuesday so I can work it out!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 347 “If that’s the color of safety, then I like it!”

July 9th, 2008

July 9, 2008

Was my first day back at work, and I got some compliments on my dress, I heard a tiny clown remark yelled from a playground when I was riding my bike to work.

On the way home I found this! Rainbows are back!
000_0203

I was wearing my florescent safety vest and my helmet, because it was getting dark and I didn’t have my lights set up. This rides his bike by and yells “yeah, it’s pretty clear that no one is going to NOT see you!” I said, “you gotta be safe!” and he said,”if that’s the color of safety then I like it!” I just grinned, and grinned, not sure if he was flirting or what but that was the best interaction around the colors I have had in a while! And then he rode off in his beige shirt, disappearing into the distance!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 346 “I’m pretty sure that Rainbow’s a lesbian!”

July 8th, 2008

July 8, 2008

A wonderful day riding around, I went to the Zipper to take shots for Dean who is doing the set design for the year in rainbow.

I wore this with my rainbow sneakers and I heard a lady go ,”That’s a lesbian.” When I rode by bike by her on the Williamsburg bridge, hey it’s gay pride day all the time!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 345 “Rainbow on the bus again”

July 7, 2008

I rode home with Pinkie all day on the bus, it was the fastest eight hours ever! We planned the Iggy Pop burlesque tribute show which will be on August 28th at the Slipper Room. I’m inviting my friend Sheila who loves Iggy Pop(and dope!)

Anyways it was nice to be home amongst my rainbow stuff!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 344 ‘RAINBOW BBQ and Tam Tams and Wrestling masks!”

July 6th, 2008

July 6, 2008

Tried to sleep in, but it was Aimee, Pinkie and I in a bed and a mouse eating our food that woke us up! Also we were in such a beautiful home that we ignored that we had been up till 6am chatting and laughing and stretching!

We had a lovely breakfast on the porch made by Miriam and then we went to the Mountain where there are multiple drum circles and people dancing and practicing acrobatics and selling stuff. Pinkie eyes it first, it was a rainbow wrestling mask! Yeah, but we found more! One for each of the Crackers! We have the Rainbow Warrior, The Silent knight, The Frog and I forgot the name of the other, but we’ll be out in full force, just you wait!! The world hasn’t seen the wrestling eccentric dancers yet!

Here’s Pinkie, all these shots are from Alexis O’Hara

Then Hanna and Elana made a lovely BBQ for us, wow, what hospitality, we have a lot to learn from traveling. How fun!

I’m not sure what was so funny to Amy and I, but Barabara, Bo and Juliette(the baby.) weren’t laughing.

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 343 “RAINBOW CRACKERS IN MONTREAL!”

July 5th, 2008

July 5, 2008

What an early morning, I didnt get home from Fire Island until maybe midnight, I packed for Montreal, all the while checking in with Miss Saturn who was also up all night. We ended up calling each other at the exact same time to say we needed to take a car to Port Authority. You knew it was going to be a wonderful day with that kind of connectedness!

It was a wonderful day, Miriam our hostess was lovely, her place was lovely, she packed the house and she said it was half full! wow! The audience was fantastic. All in all it was a great experience, here’s what I got, my camera died right after I took the last shot of the day!

Here’s Saturn in the car!

There was a woman sitting in front of us, who was dressed like she was going on a safari, so we dubbed her “Safari” Here she is stretching at a McDonalds rest stop. Click on the photo to see it larger!

When we arrived in Montreal eight hours later, we went to sleep in a less than skeezy park for an hour before our run through, here’s Saturn sleeping!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 342 “RAINBOW INVASION!”

July 4th, 2008

Oh, boy what fun! This is the other ceremony of the year that I love to do. The first year I went to the invasion was as an accidental spectator. My friends told me it was a “Gay Island” and I said,”lets go!” But when I saw all these beautiful drag queens and my friends get on the boat, I thought, well next year I will be on that boat and I was!

And this is a picture from my first year at the Invasion with Dirty Martini, Erica, Indigo Blue and me in Rainbow, by Rolfe Ross!
Fire Island Invasion by RRoss july 4 2006

If I had any you would now see some photos from 2007, but here is what I wrote on Livejournal

“The Lowlight(only one)-
-The Cunty Drag Queen announcer announcing my name and then calling me “Miss Cellulite” as I parade down the dock .. .ech and then telling Sequinette “Oh, not you darling, you’re gorgeous!”
I felt really humiliated!
The highlights.
-The invasion(a big boat of drag queens takes a boat from Cherry Grove to The Pines and struts down the dock aka catwalk as they are announced by a CUNTy drag queen)
-Finding night people who are also morning people, Machine and Sequinette meeting for the LIRR at 8am!
-After the invasion, the simultaneous moment that Scott and I see a deserted yet blocked off clean bathroom and both sneak on our hands and knees toward the bathroom, find that each is doing the same thing and burst into laughter as we get caught by the bitchy bartender as if we have broken the cardinal rule!
-On the walk back to Cherry Grove, in nothing but a g-string and heels, deciding to jump in the thorny bushes and pee(I used to do this all the time in the country, but I wasn’t in a g-string)
-Tigger pointing out the “Fellating Gays” during our safari through the meat-rack.
-Sequinette commenting on how “this isn’t glamorous” as we tromp through the woods in all our drag and me saying “but isn’t it fun!?’ “

This year was just as fun, with out any bad body image comments! A lovely morning making fritatta for the folks, with yummy orange mimosas! Make-up galore(video of the finished product will be seen in the Year in Rainbow Finale!!) Just having a big ol blast with the folks from Victoria(it was a the first time these F to F queens were on the boat, even World Famous *BOB* who is a quite the celebrity in Cherry Grove oh and the World, had never been!)

Here’s the fun having I was talking about!

Last thing we did was go skinny dipping in the ocean to get all the drag off! I saw this rainbow kite, click on it to see it larger!

I rode home with Taylor and Heather(who also accidentally bumped into the invasion), so inspiring and wonderful to hear what Taylor is up to, he is truly a wonderful person as well as an inspirational artist! Wow! He’s got a show that is running this month only, check it out, you will not be disappointed!

RAINBOW JULY: DAY 341 “Traveling Rainbow”

July 3rd, 2008

July 3, 2008

Oh, boy, what a day! I was so excited I woke up at 6am! I’m an early riser, but jeez! So yeah I worked, and as I was hopping on my bike to go home, pick up my bags, and hop on the train. I was asked to pick up some fabulous shoes in Chelsea. So this delayed my trip a bit, but it was worth it! They were shoes for Scott and I had heard Tigger! say that they were sparkle mules, but when I opened the box they were light pink patent leather Mary Janes, I didn’t want to say anything, and I really hoped this is what he had ordered(because mules are very different than Mary Janes!) I took them out of the box and threw them into my suitcase and figured Scott MUST be dressing up like a little girl, done and done!

I hopped on the train(J) to go to Jamaica, and this fellow sits next to me and asks if I’m gay, and I say what does it matter(really not wanting to engage, I realize rainbow is the universal color for gay.) And the fellow actually says, “well if I’m going to pick someone up, I need to know.” Ugh, he went on to blab about psychological reasons people are gay and blah, blah, I was too annoyed to listen, people are gay because they are gay, there is no rhyme or reason.

I got to Jamaica with five minutes to get my ticket, and hop on the train! Yeah a little stressful! The train is packed, it’s going out to Montauk on a fourth of July weekend! I had a heavy bottle of groceries so there was no way I was giving up my seat!

I hop off the train and who do I see but lovely Epiphany, beautiful drag queen extraordinarre, we got a drink and I was all of a sudden relaxed and ready to enjoy the island, and the ferry ride under the stars didn’t hurt!

I walked to meet Tigger! and he took me to the House of Orange which is my friend Steven’s place, and it is decorated like this.
Orange Livingroom
I was greeted by an all star, warm heart, rainbow mask/orange clad crew of Dirty Martini, Tigger!, Run Dazzle, Machine Dazzle, Taylor Mac and the ever gracious host Steven Menendes. What a wonderful way to begin the trip, a crew of dancing lovelies in rainbow masks!! I quickly changed into my orange dress(it was a bit more comfy!)

Here are some pics from Dirty Martini
